If you love something with a true and pure heart of love you want the best for that something. This is a love that does not have any less percentage than one hundred percent. All of us have emotions that we could say is measured in percentages. You may be able to say you love your job, but more than likely it will be a percentage of love. Eighty percent maybe the measure of your love while twenty percent is reservations of the different aspects of your job, but not one hundred percent.
True love for something in your heart makes them higher than your own happiness. True love for something else is a price you would pay above your own desires. As I was praying to God this morning I had a question. It is always beautiful in a relationship with God that you know He will answer you. One of my favorite acronyms is ASK. Mtt. 7:7 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” The other side to ASK is it shall be given, you shall find, and it shall be opened unto you.
As I was talking with God, sounding out the things that were upon my mind with Him, it hit me about who out of all of creation stayed with You? “If You Love Something ” you would want someone to love them and take care of them the same as you would do and more. It is almost like a cry of the heart for someone please love them more than I can. God, in all of creation who stayed with you?
The question drove my thoughts into researching all of the Biblical creation. My thoughts quickly gave up the search and saw the depressing image of mankind that turned away from God and corrupted this beautiful world He created just for us. I looked to the heaven recorded history and a third of the angels turned their backs on God choosing evil over Him. Who has stayed by Your side, God? Who has never stopped loving You? My heart began to ache. What creation has loved You so much that they never left You?
God dropped into my mind as reminder that only a third of the angels left Him. The greatest of all that stayed by His side was Jesus the man created inside the womb of the virgin Mary. My heart was still breaking that so many had left Him and the wish welled up in my soul with a wish that I was one of them. We all fall so short of pleasing God. Why did you do it, Adam and Eve? Why? Did you leave God?
I was driving to work and I try not to allow my broken heart to flow with tears for my failures because of the co-workers would see the red eyes and wonder what was up. This was a time of feeling a failure for something I love so much a little stream of tears began to trickle out of each eye onto my cheek slowly rolling down my face. It could not be stopped because the love was so deep and the sadness.
I want to be one of the angels that did not leave God and His goodness. I wanted to be like Jesus the man and never let Him down or betray Him. The reality of my weaknesses broke my heart for the something I love so dear. Adam and Eve left Him. A part of the angels left Him. Why? How could you give up being with someone so wonderful? There was no pain and sorrow.
In my brokenness and wiping away the little streams of tears as a deep soul would cry of God help me not to betray You or leave You. My thoughts came back to the question, is there anyone else who did not betray You? No one else came to my mind. Most of the angels and Jesus the man never left God’s side. No one else had the love of Mtt. 6:9 “…Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” v10 “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.“
I am still tearful inside behind my eyes thinking about did anyone else stay with God. I have found God to be a loving, caring, and a forgiving God when I absolutely did not deserve it. I have seen enough evil in my life and around my life to this present day that I do not want anything to do with that side of evil. I want to be totally on the side of God’s goodness and not fail Him.
The comfort of God came to me in my down trodden state of mind, heart, and soul. God took my thoughts of “If You Love Something” to Jesus the man. Even though God Almighty was inside the fleshly body of Jesus Col. 2:9 “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.“, the man Jesus had a free will choice. We have a free will choice to choose whom we love one hundred percent.
Jesus the man lived a daily life of Mtt. 6:9 “…Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” v10 “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Jesus the man constantly pointed out that he was only doing the things he was doing because God showed him what to do. Jn. 5:19 “…The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do…” Jesus the man was tempted with all the things we are tempted with, but overcame them staying by God’s side. Heb. 4:15 “…but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.“
Jesus the man stayed by God’s side the whole time because he realized the value and importance of God’s goodness. Jn. 5:30 “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge… because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” Jesus the man chose to stay by God’s side no matter what. Jesus the man knowing his death was near said, 42 “…not my will, but thine, be done.” In my weaknesses, I wish I could be more like Jesus and constantly stay by God’s side and will.
As I had that thought, God stepped in dropping His word into my spirit that Phil. 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Totally relying upon Jesus to help me maintain a life of living on the side of something that I love – being with God. We all walk in a world filled with evil and the devil’s plans unfolding before our eyes pushing the end time prophesies fulfillment.
I want to be like Jesus and be among the few that stays by God’s side through out all of eternity. I am glad I was water baptized, fully immersed, in the only name that represents never leaving God’s side and has the blood of forgiveness inside that only name that carries the power to wash away my sins in Jesus name.
I am glad I prayed to God about receiving the promise and the power of His Holy Spirit in the same way the apostles did. If He wanted me to have it then I wanted it. If you love something you are willing to surrender your will to the “Thy will be done.” The power of the Holy Spirit came upon me with such overpowering divine love and changing power my words of English praise was converted into a language only the Holy Spirit of God could give. The words of praise to God went beyond a mortal man speaking to a heavenly worship that no earthly joy could explain.
“If You Love Something“, Jesus is Jn. 14:6 “…the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” and you will have in your life beyond mankind and traditions. The Mtt. 6:9 “…Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” v10 “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” will be your entire theme and purpose of life.
My love for God and His word superseded the traditions I was raised in and my obedience went directly to what God said in His word. That is why I got re-baptized from the traditional way of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost to being baptized in Jesus name. God put everything in the name of Jesus for us. Jesus the man did not fail God nor did the Apostles fail God in preaching the plan of salvation, which was:
Acts 2:38 “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” I want to stick with God and His word. What do you want to do? Join the angels and Jesus the man who stayed with God or follow everyone else who did their own thing rejecting God?
v39 “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” This salvation is an unchanging promise to you, your children, and to ALL that are afar off. Do you hear the Spirit of God calling you? “If You Love Something” with all your mind, heart, and soul; you will be willing to follow Him when everyone else chooses not to go. Apply ASK acronym.
There are two types of creation that stayed with God – angels and the man Jesus. We are not of heaven to be angels, but we are of the earth and can be like the man Jesus through His strength and Spirit. Turn your failure into victory, get saved in Jesus name, and live a daily life with the goal of loving God to the very end. Be among the few here on earth. All the goodness you could ever receive there is nothing greater than receiving God Himself. He is the greatest of all good. Help us God not to fail you! “If You Love Something” more than yourself.
