My Today Person

I came home and put my stuff up from work. I started my routine of picking out my shoes, pants, and shirt. I finished with picking the socks and the rest of the under clothes. The thought came to me “my today person” was taking care of “my tomorrow person“. I had a moment of a slight laughter at myself for thinking “my today person was taking care of my tomorrow person“. It was quite amusing to me for the thought. I was taking care and preparing for the future for myself. The today attire hanging, sitting, and lying there was for my tomorrow.

As my inward laughter settled the small still voice of what I consider to be the Lord continued walking me down the path of “My Today Person” is taking care of my “my tomorrow person“. My routine of getting things ready for tomorrow was being taking care of today. What I was doing would affect my tomorrow. If I did not prep my clothes and other things today for tomorrow my morning routine would have the added burden and would be full of hurrying around doing it all at the last minute at the start of my tomorrow morning with the high probability of forgetting something. Have you ever been in a rush and forgot something? Oh, yes and it is very frustrating once you realize it.

It is a simple thought, but a very clear understanding that falls back on me from me. The thoughts and actions from “My Today Person” decides what “my tomorrow person” will be. The color of my shirt decides what I want others to see when they look at me. My pants decides the level of status I want others to see as far as a gritty, casual, or professional appearance. My decision on shoes will decide what I am prepared and not prepared to do that day. A pair of hiking boots will make a statement far different than a pair of flip flops.

My Today Person” has decided what “my tomorrow person” will project to others before tomorrow arrives. What I do today decides what I will be tomorrow. Emotions, thoughts, and unexpected events can shape what our tomorrows will be like. I practice a phrase I thought of many years ago for “my tomorrow person” and it is “Have a great day in spite of what comes your way“. It is worth the fight against bad things that happen out of our control.

It is really cool to see “My Today Person” is having solid faith and belief tomorrow will come to the extent the clothes are laid out in expectation as evidence for something that is not seen yet by “my tomorrow person“. Doing anything today for tomorrow is an action that the “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1). Isn’t that cool and simple to see. What we do in the “Now” for tomorrow “things not seen” is our “Now faith” in action “of things hoped for” in our desired results in “substance“. Wow, that is really something to chew on for our thoughts.

I have put things in my vehicle the night before to make sure it was loaded and ready to go tomorrow. I have put things on the counter by the door as a reminder not to forget them tomorrow. If you start looking in your home you will probably see something your “today person” has prepared for your “tomorrow person“. Some have hat, coat, and key racks near their door holding things for tomorrow. We are practicing “Now faith” in our “Today Person” for the substance of the things (shirts, pants, shoes, lunch boxes, etc.) we have laid out for an outcome as evidence for the “tomorrow person” not seen as of yet to have in a status ready-to-go.

My Today Person” and “your today person” is dealing with things that are physically touchable in a daily routine for our “tomorrow person” to take hold of in a repeating cycle of events. It is sometimes easier for us to see the things we do in this world on a physically daily basis not realizing there is another side of us in a count down status of leaving this world behind us.

One day “My Today Person” will lay out things for “my tomorrow person” and they will be there waiting tomorrow and someone else will be picking them up to give them away to others, be donated, or sold because “My Today Person” has left this world behind. The only living thing of “My Today Person” left behind in this world will be the memories I left in others while the physical things (shirts, pants, shoes, cars, homes, etc.) have no life within themselves. My clothes were prepared for tomorrow, but was my spirit ready for what the tomorrow would bring?

It came to me so crystal clear not only does “My Today Person” needs to continue with the good physical routines for “my tomorrow person“, which is a temporary existing part, but I need to start doing things for my spiritual eternal part. It makes sense for “My Today Person” who is living right now to do good spiritual routines for the eternal place that “my tomorrow person” will live after this world.

Now, the question is “What are the spiritual routines I need to do” for “my tomorrow person“? I lay out daily for “my tomorrow person” physical shirts, pants, and shoes for a covering. Is there something “My Today Person” needs to lay out for my spiritual person as a covering? It is considered a crime to be naked and exposed in public for my physical person. Does my spiritual person have a nakedness to it that is wrong and considered a crime in the spiritual public realm with God?

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12). “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23). So, our spirit stands out naked with sin exposed and uncovered to all in God’s spiritual public realm and we do need to be clothed spiritually. “My Today Person” easily sees the physical things in this world as a temporary thing because all things decay and die, but “My Today Person” has trouble seeing the spiritual things that are eternal. Our natural flesh does not accept the things of God because it can be only known by our spirit seeing it (! Cor. 2:12).

We are naturally so earthly minded in our daily routines of taking care of our bodies, earthly tabernacles. We don’t thing about our bodies dying on us leaving our spirit naked and exposed. Our “Today Person” does not think about preparing for our “tomorrow person’s” spirit. There is a clothing God offers from heaven for our spiritual person and we can focus on clothing it everyday. So, we will not be found naked when we leave our physical bodies behind (2 Corinthians 5:10-4).

There was a young man who was captured by the enemy along with many others and was made to serve this other kingdom. His “today person” did not want to eat and drink what the king ordered the guards to give them. His “today person” also made friends with the commander that was over them. His “today person” made a proposition with the commander for his “tomorrow person’s” sake. Let us eat and drink for ten days as a test for our “tomorrow selves” with vegetables and water. After ten days look at us compared to those who ate what the king ordered and we will do according to your judgment to which is best. This young man had the wisdom to look out for his tomorrows by his today’s actions and decisions. The commander took them before the king and this young man was chosen to enter into the service for the king.

This young man took care of his physical needs by his “today person” doing the right thing and setting up his “tomorrow person” and in the process gained a better position in life. This young man also took thought of his “tomorrow person” to be spiritually prepared and clothed. He started a habit of talking to God three times a day by his “today person” having no idea of what his tomorrow may bring. His wisdom and intelligence that he worked on by his “today person” made him stand out from the others that were around him, which caused jealousy among the others. The other’s “today persons” started looking for a way to get rid of him. Through some trickery and deceit they got the young man in trouble to be put to death.

His “tomorrow person” found himself thrown into a pit where lions were left to starve and the feeding of the lions were the people that were sentenced to death. The young man’s “today person” was ready for whatever fate had laid out for him. His physical and spiritual clothing were in place. The king feared for this young man and returned the next day calling out to the pit below listening for a reply. The young man’s “today person” with the habit of praying three times a day found favor with God clothing his “tomorrow person” spiritually and physically with a life protection from God and he replied to the king, “My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths and they have not harmed me, inasmuch as I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.” This young man who prepared his body and spirit was Daniel (Daniel Chapter 1 and 6).

We all mature to the understanding that what we see in this world things are temporary. All things decay with time on this earth. Our “today person” has a massive storage in our “past person’s” memory banks of being a child, a teenager, young adult, and some to middle age even up to old age. Flipping through those “past person’s” memory banks we have seen time age our parents/grandparents with the decaying of their once young flesh, and looks into an elderly aging “tomorrow person“. Of which those same decaying facts are happening to our “today person” turning us into our parents and grandparent’s “tomorrow persons“. This may make you sad for the things of this life out of your control, but your “today person” with the wisdom of this life being temporary can change the results like Daniel the eternal “tomorrow person’s” destiny. Don’t worry reading this by your “today person” means you have time to change things for your “tomorrow person“.

In this article you are reading what “My Today Person” is telling your “today person” right now you can be like Daniel and start a walk with God clothing and covering your spiritual nakedness of sin with God’s clothing just as I did. “My Today Person” is like Daniel in the sense of being wiser, kinder, more understanding, and perception because of the fellowship with God and His word. I don’t know what “my tomorrow person” will face, but it feels great that “My Today Person” is conscious of what I decide and do today will dictate what happens to me tomorrow with God walking with me or even carrying me.

How do we clothe and cover our “today person’s” spirit? What must we do today to put our “today person” status in a state to handle what tomorrow may bring? We cannot brag about tomorrow in a guaranteed sense that we know exactly what the day will bring (Prov. 27:1). What we do today is exchanging a day of our life for it. The only way we can truly take care of our “tomorrow person” with things out of our “todays person’s” control is with someone who holds tomorrow in their hands – God, Creator of all. I know I am repeating it over and over, but it is crucial you see yourself right now because tomorrow is not promised to you or I.

To protect our “today person” and the things our “tomorrow person” will face we must choose God’s plan to save us. We must prepare and layout the clothes today for our spirit like we do our clothes for our body. The set of clothes for our body will one day pass away with age and the other set of clothes for our spirit will be one for all eternity. How do I get the eternal clothes for my spirit? God’s plan comes in a two-part series. The first part has to do with water baptism being born again of the water (Jn. 3:5, 6). The Bible says, “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Gal. 3:27). “My Today Person” can be baptized in water in Jesus name and putting my spirit into Christ, clothing myself spiritually with Christ’s covering of forgiveness. Another amazing fact is water baptism in Jesus name washes away the nakedness of my sins at the same time (Acts 2:38). The blood of the lamb of God is in the name of Jesus applying the power of forgiveness.

I can be covered and clothed in the name of Jesus born again of the water by baptism placing “My Today Person” in a status of being clean before God with another chance to live my days with no fear of tomorrow because God holds tomorrow. Now, I am covered and what is left is the fellowship and communion with God. This would be my spirit with His spirit just like Daniel prayed everyday, but in a more direct oneness with God. This is the second part of God’s plan being born again of the spirit (Jn. 3:5, 6).

The faith of our spirit looks, prays, and sends our praises towards God directly hoping for the evidence of His unseen Spirit to pour inside of us, filling us up so much that it overflows and comes back forth from within us like a spring gushing forth, “…shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” Jn. 4:14; in a born again by the words of God speaking with our voice, “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:4; by God’s invisible power establishing a rebirth of our eternal spirit in His eternal Spirit. You have absolutely no doubts when you hear God speaking with your voice. You know without a shadow of a doubt God has entered into your body.

Does that not sound amazing? It is the born of His Spirit experience we are promised from the time of the church in the Bible to this present day (Acts 2:39, Heb. 13:8) because God’s salvation is not temporary, but an eternal element our “today person” can have for all the tomorrows we may face. The spiritual clothing, covering our naked sins, and divine fellowship is all covered in our “today person’s” decision to repent, be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of our sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38) for our “tomorrow person” to be saved and prepared just like Daniel not knowing the lion’s den was waiting for him and in our case it may be the eternal place of punishment where there is no escape.

As “My Today Person” picks out the clothes for my tomorrow job or tasks I want my “My Today Person” to prepare my spirit with the coverings and fellowship with God I will need for the unexpected things coming my way. Also, someone else I may meet tomorrow may need an encouraging word that God had just given me during our time of fellowship. God is a multitasking God far beyond what we can think or ask.

Lord, please let “My Today Person” be guided by Your Spirit into all truth that I may need showing me the things to come (Jn. 16:13) clothing my spirit with the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation (1 Thess. 5:5-8). “My Today Person” will give up this body one day and my earthly house will be dissolved (2 Cor. 5:1-4) and “My Tomorrow Person” will wake up eternally somewhere because of the decisions “My Today Person” had made.

The fellowship “My Today Person” has gained walking with You God has caused a hunger in my spirit to be always clothed with Your Word and Your Spirit chasing away the emptiness and nakedness my spirit feels when I miss praying with You. We all will experience from our “today persons” the swallowing up of our mortality unto eternal life or unto eternal death.

Help us, Lord in guiding and preparing our “today person” for the temptations and the sins that easily trip us up, delivering us from evil within our own flesh and from others, allowing our “tomorrow person” a way of escape for the purpose of reaching Your kingdom praising, loving, and glorifying Your delivering power. Thank you for the second chances, Lord.

Your “todays person” does not know what your “tomorrow person’s” life will be like. We are all like a vapor that appears for a little while and in time we all will vanish away. What your “today person” decides is an exchange for a day of your life that will affect your “tomorrow person’s” destiny. Clothe yourself in Jesus name baptism and be filled with His Spirit of fellowship inside your body. Jesus is the best roommate you will ever have inside your fleshly house of clay walking towards all the sunsets of tomorrow. God Bless you and Keep you.
